Hadi al-Bahra, head of the Syrian National Coalition, told Xinhua on Saturday he hopes an upcoming national dialogue conference in Syria will meet public expectations by representing "all spectrums and components of the Syrian people."
al-Bahra said, while there are still no detailed plans for the conference, it should be allocated "enough time to produce meaningful outcomes."
As for the recent visits by officials from Western and Arab countries to Syria, al-Bahra said they show that "the global community wants to ensure things in Syria proceed in line with the aspirations of the Syrian people."
He said, these visits also show that foreign governments "aim to protect their interests" and to keep Syria from "taking a wrong path that would threaten security and stability in the region."
A military coalition led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) launched a major offensive from northern Syria on Nov. 27, 2024, capturing Damascus and overthrowing former President Bashar al-Assad's government within 12 days.
