Mid-Autumn Festival - the moon will be at its highest and Saturn may be visible

16/9/2024 5:43
Tomorrow is the Mid-Autumn Festival. The Observatory said that the moon will rise in the evening and will reach its highest point around midnight. Since the moon will move to its perigee, if weather conditions permit, you will be able to see a round and big super moon. Visually The upper diameter will be about 7% larger than average, and there will also be an astronomical phenomenon of Saturn being visible to the naked eye next to the full moon.

While admiring the moon, citizens should pay attention to the weather forecast. It is predicted that the Mid-Autumn Festival will be mostly cloudy with a few showers, sunny and very hot during part of the day, and thunderstorms will occur in some areas later.

The Observatory pointed out that the broad low-pressure area near Luzon in the Philippines will gradually develop today and tomorrow, and there is a high chance of moving westward across the central and northern South China Sea. However, its path and development are still uncertain. The Observatory will continue to monitor it closely.
