Japan SDF officer linked to Chinese embassy intrusion re-arrested
Japanese police on Tuesday re-arrested Self-Defense Forces (SDF) member Kodai Murata, who had previously forced his way into the Chinese Embassy in Japan, on suspicion of violating the country's firearms and swords control law, Kyodo News reported.
On March 24, the 23-year-old Ground Self-Defense Force second lieutenant scaled a barbed-wire wall and broke into the Chinese Embassy in Japan with an 18-centimeter blade, vowing to kill Chinese diplomatic personnel "in the name of god."
Police had earlier arrested Murata on suspicion of illegal trespassing. The latest arrest adds a further charge related to weapons possession under Japan's firearms and swords control law.
