10 dead, over 40 injured in separate road accidents in India

At least 10 people, including four women, died and more than 40 were injured in two separate road accidents in India over the past 12 hours, confirmed police sources on Tuesday.



In the first mishap, three people died, one was injured and four went missing when the SUV they were travelling in fell into a 250-feet deep gorge in India's northern hilly state of Uttarakhand.



Three dead bodies had been recovered, among whom one was a woman, said a local police officer, adding that the accident occurred at around 10:00 a.m. local time.



In another accident, seven people, including three women, died and nearly 40 others were injured when two buses collided head-on in Surat district of the western state of Gujarat.
