EU ambassadors visit Khartoum for 1st time since Sudan conflict outbreak
Chairman of Sudan's Transitional Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, on Monday received a delegation of European Union (EU) ambassadors accredited to Sudan, who paid their first visit to Khartoum since the outbreak of war in the country in April 2023.
In a statement, the council said that Al-Burhan briefed the ambassadors on the latest humanitarian and security developments in the country and referred to what he described as violations committed against civilians by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), stressing the need to halt external support provided to the group.
Al-Burhan also emphasized that the political process is a "purely Sudanese matter" that should take place within Sudan and be driven by the will of the Sudanese people, welcoming any international support that contributes to stability, peace, and development while respecting the country's sovereignty, said the statement.
