Egyptian, Sudanese FMs discuss Sudan crisis over phone
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a phone call on Friday with Sudan's Foreign Minister Mohi El-Din Salem to discuss developments in Sudan and efforts to end the crisis.
During the talk, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's support for Sudan's unity and sovereignty, stressing the need for a Sudanese-led political process free from external interference to restore stability, according to a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.
The two ministers also discussed the Horn of Africa and Red Sea security, calling for greater coordination among littoral states to safeguard maritime navigation.
Sudan has been mired in armed conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces since mid-April 2023. The conflict has claimed tens of thousands of lives and displaced millions.
