Commissioner's Office in HKSAR opposes external forces

17/3/2025 5:58
A spokesperson for the Commissioner's Office of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Sunday expressed strong dissatisfaction with and firm opposition to external forces' interference in Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs.

The spokesperson made it clear in response to officials from the permanent missions of the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and some other countries to the United Nations who openly met with the families and so-called "legal team" of key anti-China individuals. These officials supported anti-China forces, smeared the rule of law in Hong Kong, and interfered in Hong Kong affairs and China's internal matters.

The spokesperson said that anti-China elements have crossed legal red lines, challenged the constitutional order of the HKSAR and the foundational principles of "one country, two systems", and even openly colluded with external forces to endanger national security. The judiciary of the HKSAR conducted trials fairly and according to the law, and such actions were not subject to interference.

External forces vigorously attempted to absolve key anti-China figures, fully exposing their true nature of colluding with anti-China organizations and undermining the rule of law in the HKSAR, the spokesperson added.

The spokesperson said that despite their bad records on issues of the rule of law and human rights, the aforementioned countries made baseless accusations against other countries and regions, exposing their hypocritical double standards.

The spokesperson urged these countries to face the reality, adhere to basic norms of international relations, respect the spirit of the rule of law, and immediately stop interfering in Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs by any means.
