Bangladesh to implement special security plan for general election

Bangladesh will implement a nine-day special security plan for the 13th general election slated for February next year

The plan could be adjusted based on how the situation develops in the country.

30,000 Bangladeshi army soldiers who are placed on duty during the elections, will increase to almost 100,000 to provide security .

Other security forces will also help keep everything safe and under control during the election.

The general election will be held in February 2026 for the first time since a mass uprising toppled then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina last year.
