France stands in full solidarity with Iraq amid Mideast tensions

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Friday that France stands in full solidarity with Iraq amid escalating tensions in the Middle East and supports efforts to prevent the country from being drawn into the conflict.



Macron made the remarks in a post on social media platform X after speaking with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani over phone.



Macron stressed that Iraq's stability is essential for the entire region, noting that France supports the full respect of Iraq's sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.



For his part, al-Sudani stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to halt military operations, noting that the international community and major powers must work to stop the war and prevent its further escalation, according to a statement by his media office.
