Russia bans all fish imports from Armenia, TASS reports
Russia has moved to ban all fish imports from Armenia, the TASS state news agency said on Friday, citing Rosselkhoznadzor, the state agriculture watchdog. The fresh curbs, which now cover the remaining two Armenian fish producers that were previously excluded from a ban, come as parliamentary elections earlier in June were won by pro-Western Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's governing party. Russia, which also restricted imports of other foods and goods from Armenia, earlier asked Yerevan to suspend certification for the Russian market for all but two Armenian fish exporters as of June 2 due to alleged non-compliance with inspections of fish-processing facilities. After the elections, a pro-Russian opposition alliance filed a request to Armenia's election commission to throw out the results of the vote.
