Russia to extend gasoline export ban until year-end

Russia will extend its ban on gasoline exports through the end of 2026 to ensure stable domestic fuel supplies, Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters in the Siberian city of Omsk, Novak said the decision was made at a government operational meeting and would apply to both gasoline producers and non-producers.

He added that the ban on diesel exports would be lifted once the domestic market recovers, allowing oil refineries to avoid oversupply and reductions in refining output.

Russia has experienced a nationwide fuel shortage this summer due to strikes on its energy infrastructure amid the conflict with Ukraine.
