Man critical after home-invasion stabbing in east Australia

A man has been hospitalized with critical injuries after he was stabbed by a group of people who tried to break into his home in the Australian state of Queensland in the early hours of Tuesday.



The Queensland Police Service said that a group of armed people attempted to break into a property in Victoria Point, 30 km east of Brisbane, around 1:30 a.m. local time on Tuesday when they were confronted by a resident.



The resident, a 46-year-old man, was stabbed several times before the group fled the scene.



He was subsequently taken to hospital in a critical but stable condition. Police said investigations are underway to determine whether the attack was targeted and asked anyone with information or footage to come forward.
