Iran, Iraq discuss promotion of security, judicial cooperation

Iran and Iraq on Tuesday exchanged views on expanding bilateral security and judicial cooperation, according to Iranian media.



The issue was discussed in meetings between Iran's top security and judicial officials and Iraq's Supreme Judicial Council President Faiq Zaidan in the Iranian capital Tehran.



Iran's Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei described bilateral judicial and legal cooperation as "expanded" in the light of the memorandums of understanding and agreements signed between the two countries, calling for the further deepening of such relations, the Mizan news agency of the Iranian judiciary reported.



Zaidan, for his part, said judicial cooperation between Iraq and Iran has been promoted based on the two countries' "absolute faith" in the necessity to expand bilateral strategic collaborations, highlighting the necessity to fully implement the judicial agreements signed between the two countries.



The Iraqi official arrived in Tehran on Tuesday for consultations on bilateral judicial cooperation and strengthening relations.
