Teenager among 3 charged over fatal mistaken-identity Sydney shooting

A teenage boy and two men have been charged with murder for allegedly perpetrating the mistaken identity shooting of a university student in southwest Sydney.



Marco Tapia, aged 23, died after he was shot by a group of three offenders who broke into his southwest Sydney home in the early hours of Sept. 1. Investigators said at the time that the attack was linked to organized crime and the wrong house was targeted.



A police statement on Wednesday said that officers on Tuesday arrested three males, aged 16, 22 and 23, in the town of Junee about 350 km southwest of Sydney.



It will be alleged in court that the three males, one of whom was armed with a pistol, entered Tapia's home and confronted him before the 23-year-old was fatally shot.



Two other teenage boys, aged 14 and 16, were earlier in September charged with murder for allegedly providing a weapon and vehicles for those involved in the attack.
