A gas explosion occurred in a residential unit in Cheung Sha Wan

        A gas explosion, in a residential unit in Cheung Sha Wan, caused multiple burns to a female resident who was sent to the hospital for treatment.
        
        At around 9:00 pm Sunday, the police received a report from a 31-year-old female resident of Yiu Fai Building on Chi Fai Street, Cheung Sha Wan. She was preparing some Chinese medicines in her flat when an LPG suddenly exploded causing bodily burns.
        
        Fire fighters arrived at the scene and eventually extinguished the fire. The ambulance arrived and applied a large amount of cold compresses to the burned face and feet of the female victim who was later sent to Princess Margaret Hospital for treatment.
        
        The police and the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department are investigating the accident.
