1 man and 1 woman were arrested for pretending to be the owner of a rental space

        In October, the police received a number of fraud cases involving rental parking spaces. A report stated that someone claimed to rent a parking space in a private building on an online platform. However, when the victim went to the customer service center of the relevant parking lot to go through the procedures after paying, he discovered that the parking space was rented. There were already other tenants renting the same space and they suspected they had been deceived, so they called the police for help. The case was handed over to the Kwun Tong Police District Criminal Investigation Team for follow-up.
        
        After investigation, the police arrested the scammers on October 31. They were a 44-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman who are both locals. They were suspected of "Obtaining property by deception" and "Possession of false instrument".
        
        The two arrested persons were suspected of using owner information obtained online to forge identity documents, pretending to be the owner and agent of the parking space, sign a contract with the victim, and collect deposits and rents from them.
        
        The two arrested persons are suspected to be related to four parking space rental scams that occurred between September 22 and October 30. The four victims lost between NT$10,000 and NT$70,000 respectively, with a total loss of NT$220,000. Two The arrested men and women are currently being detained by the police for investigation.
