3/11/2024 5:54
The Tuen Mun Police District has noticed that a burglary syndicate has recently targeted low-density and low-rise private residences in the district. After in-depth investigation, the Castle Peak Division Task Force conducted an anti-burglary operation in the district on Thursday night.

During the operation, the police found a man acting suspiciously and wandering on the platform of the housing estate involved. They stopped him and found cash and jewelry worth about $120,000. Police also found tools, believed to have been used to commit the crimes, in his backpack. The 42-year-old man, from the Mainland, was arrested on suspicion of "burglary" and "failure to provide identification documents". The case was handed over to the 8th Team of the Tuen Mun Police District Criminal Investigation Team for follow-up.

Investigation showed that the arrested man was suspected of being related to two other burglaries that occurred in Tuen Mun District on October 20 and 26. The property lost included cash, watches and jewelry, with a total value of approximately $1.35 million.

The arrested man was provisionally charged with one count of "burglary" and one count of "failure to provide identification documents". The case will be brought to Tuen Mun Court on Monday (4th). The police appealed that burglary is a very serious crime. Once convicted, the maximum penalty is 14 years in prison.
