Toraji will be closest to Hong Kong in the next two to three hours

Northeast Gale or Storm Signal No. 8 is now in effect. At 4 a.m., Tropical Storm Tochi gathered about 140 kilometers south-southeast of Hong Kong and was expected to move slowly westward, approaching the Pearl River Estuary. The Observatory stated that local winds have increased in the past few hours, with strong winds blowing in the highlands and southern areas. According to the current forecast path, Toraji will be closest to Hong Kong in the next two to three hours, passing within about 150 kilometers south of Hong Kong. On the 8th Gale or storm signals will remain in force until at least 10 am. As Toraji weakens and moves away from Hong Kong, local winds will gradually ease during the day today. The Observatory will assess the time to change signal No. 3 depending on Toraji's movements and the degree of weakening of local winds. There are occasional storms and storms in Hong Kong today. There are very strong waves and swells in the sea. People are advised to stay away from the shore and stop all water activities.
