20/1/2025 6:03
Pakistan's spin bowler Sajid Khan took five wickets on Sunday to lead Pakistan to a commanding 127-run victory over the West Indies in the first Test of the two-match series in Pakistan's eastern Multan city.

Player of the match Khan's 5-50 in the second innings capped an outstanding match haul of nine wickets, while fellow spinner Abrar Ahmed contributed with 4-27 as the West Indies crumbled to 123 all out in pursuit of a 251-run target.

The home side's spin trio of Sajid Khan, Abrar Ahmed and Noman Ali made the most of a turning pitch and dominated, taking all 10 wickets in the second innings.

West Indian left-hander Alick Athanaze was the lone bright spot for the West Indies, scoring 55 runs, the tourists' only half-century in the match which started late and concluded on the 3rd day.

Pakistan's first innings total of 230 had already given them the upper hand, while the West Indies were bowled out at 137 runs in the 1st inning. Pakistan made 157 runs in the 2nd inning and gave the visitors a target of 251.

The second and final Test of the series will also take place in Multan, starting on January 25.
