The Security Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government on Saturday announced that another six Hong Kong residents who were lured and detained in Southeast Asia have been rescued and returned to Hong Kong.
The rescued individuals consist of three men and three women, aged between 29 and 44. They had been detained for periods ranging from five to seven months. The rescue operation did not involve a ransom payment. Among them, five arrived in Hong Kong late on Friday night, while one returned on Saturday morning, according to the bureau.
Since 2024, the law enforcement agencies of the HKSAR government have received a total of 28 request-for-assistance cases in relation to Hong Kong residents alleged to have been detained in Southeast Asian regions. Taking into account the six persons, 25 of them have already returned to Hong Kong, the bureau said, adding that it will continue to actively follow up on the remaining three cases and strive to facilitate their return as soon as possible.
