11 killed in clash between rival groups in southern Mexico

10/4/2025 6:17
At least 11 people were killed in a shootout between suspected rival criminal groups in the southern Mexican state of Guerrero, local authorities confirmed Wednesday.

The bodies of 11 men were found late Tuesday in the community of Rancho Viejo, in the municipality of Tecoanapa, located in the Costa Chica region, according to a statement from the Guerrero State Prosecutor's Office.

Preliminary reports suggest the violence stemmed from a conflict over territorial control between criminal organizations.

State investigators and forensic teams were dispatched to the scene to carry out official procedures.

Guerrero remains one of Mexico's poorest and most violence-affected states, with a long history of organized crime activity, according to local media reports.
