A traffic accident on Sunday near Split, Croatia's second-largest city, left 19 people injured, with four remaining hospitalized for observation, the Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT) reported.
According to the report, two buses collided on the A1 motorway on Sunday afternoon, fortunately resulting in no fatalities or serious injuries.
"All necessary medical assistance was provided to all of them. We currently have four individuals receiving treatment in hospital... the others, after receiving all required care, will be released home," said Radoslav Stipic, head of the Department of Abdominal Surgery at the Split Clinical Hospital.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident occurred when roadwork on the access routes caused a sudden slowdown in highway traffic. The driver of the second bus reportedly failed to notice the change in time to react, leading to the collision.
