UN Women Lebanon has launched a two-year initiative aimed at improving women's rights, safety and economic participation, targeting 4,600 crisis-affected women across the country, Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA) reported on Monday.
Funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the project will offer short-term income opportunities through cash-for-work programmes, alongside skills development aimed at fostering sustainable livelihoods, according to the NNA.
The initiative will also provide a range of protection services, including gender-based violence awareness, psychosocial support, legal aid, and referral services for survivors and women at risk. Additional support will be directed to women-led businesses impacted by Lebanon's ongoing economic collapse.
Priority will be given to women with disabilities and Syrian refugees, the agency said.
