2 killed, 11 injured in blast in SW Pakistan

At least two people were killed and 11 others injured in a bomb blast in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province on Monday, rescue officials said.



The explosion took place in the main market of Rakhni area in Barkhan district when an explosive device planted on a parked motorcycle went off, according to Rescue 1122.



"Two people died on the spot, while 11 others sustained injuries," a spokesperson for Rescue 1122 told Xinhua. He said four of the injured were in critical condition and shifted to a hospital for treatment.



Nearby shops, buildings, and a vehicle were also damaged in the blast, the official added.



Following the explosion, an emergency was declared in all hospitals across the district. Security personnel rushed to the scene, cordoned off the area, and launched a search operation.



No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
