Czech Republic not to join purchase of U.S. weapons for Ukraine

16/7/2025 7:42
The Czech Republic will not join the purchase of U.S. weapons for Ukraine at this time, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said on Tuesday.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Monday an agreement with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) regarding weapons to assist Ukraine. Under the agreement, governments of Germany, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Canada will finance bulk purchases from U.S. manufacturers and ship the equipment directly to Kiev.

"The Czech Republic is focusing on other projects and ways to help Ukraine," Fiala told local media Publico.

The Ministry of Defense confirmed to the Czech News Agency later on Tuesday that it shares the prime minister's position and has no plans to participate in the weapons purchase.
