5 dead, 36 injured in attack with explosives in Colombia

Five people were killed and 36 others injured in an attack with explosives near the Marco Fidel Suarez Air Base in the Colombian city of Cali on Thursday, said the mayor's office.



The "terrorist attack" carried out with a bomb occurred around 2:50 p.m. local time, according to the Colombian Aerospace Force (FAC), which reiterated its commitment to the safety of Colombians.



"The unified command post remains active and all relief organizations are responding to the emergency," said the mayor's office.



FAC said that the work of verifying damage to facilities and personnel is underway, in addition to the investigation to establish the causes and perpetrators of the attack.
