15/10/2025 17:39
South Korea's jobless claims rebounded in September owing to higher demand in the manufacturing and the health and welfare industrie.

The number of new applicants for job-seeking benefits expanded 10.0 percent over the year to 89,000 in September after sliding for the past two months, according to the Ministry of Employment and Labor.

The benefit applicants gained in the manufacturing, health and social welfare and the education service sectors, but the reading declined in the information and communications industry.

The job-seeking benefits are offered by the government to help the unemployed seek jobs, taking up a majority of unemployment benefits.

The number of benefit receivers totaled 625,000 in September, up 4.0 percent from a year earlier. The total payment of job-seeking benefits mounted 10.9 percent to 753.1 million U.S. dollars in the cited month.
