1 dies in railway accident in northern Portugal

A 38-year-old man died on Tuesday after being struck by a train on the Minho Line in the parish of Areosa, in northern Portugal's Alto Minho region.
According to Lusa News Agency, a source from the Alto Minho Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command said that three vehicles and 12 personnel were dispatched to the scene, adding that rail traffic had been suspended since 14:47 local time.
The train was operating on the Porto-Valenca route, and the accident occurred in an area without an authorized crossing, about 600 meters from Areosa station.
