Fallen lamp at the Hong Kong Convention Centre leads to injury

A ceiling lampshade, at the old wing parking lot of the Wan Chai Convention and Exhibition Center, fell onto a male worker cauing injury. He was sent to the hospital for treatment. At around 11:00 pm Sunday, a truck was parked in the underground parking lot of the old wing of the Convention and Exhibition Center. While a male worker was moving items from the rear of the truck, a stone panel about a meter wide on the ceiling along with a light pipe and lampshade fell, hitting the 42-year-old male worker. He reported back injuries and called the police. The victim was conscious when the ambulance arrived. After initially treating his injuries, he was taken to Ruttonjee Hospital for treatment. The fire department also visited the scene to investigate and determined that there was no immediate danger at the accident site. Steel bars were exposed at on the ceiling and debris were left on the ground. The police cordoned off the scene and classified the case as an injury caused by falling objects. The case is still under investigation.
