A fire broke out in the battery room of the MTR Kowloon Bay Depot

        A fire broke out in the battery room of the MTR Kowloon Bay Depot and was extinguished by fire fighters. More than 20 staff members were evacuated but no one was injured.
        
        At about 1:00 am Friday, a fire suddenly broke out in the battery room of the MTR Kowloon Bay Depot. The fire alarm set off and MTR staff called the police.
        
        Firefighters arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire in about 24 minutes.
        
        After a preliminary fire investigation, it was believed that the fire was caused by overheating of the battery, and the cause of the fire was deemed not suspicious.
