A bird flu case was found in the Kosice Zoo in eastern Slovakia, resulting in the zoo's closure on Wednesday, local media reported.
The National Reference Laboratory in Zvolen has confirmed the bird flu infection in a hooded merganser duck, the reports said, adding that the duck was found behaving in a strange manner in the zoo's pond recently.
The zoo, home to 150 bird species and more than 580 individuals, will remain closed to the public for at least 21 days, depending on how the infection develops.
