Yemen's Houthi group said early Sunday that it had launched a fresh attack on the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier and its supply ship in the northern Red Sea over the past 24 hours.
In a statement aired by Houthi-run al-Masirah TV, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea said the aircraft carrier was targeted with "cruise missiles and drones," while the supply ship was hit with a "ballistic missile."
The U.S. Navy has yet to comment on the claim.
Tensions between the Houthis and the U.S. military have escalated since Washington resumed airstrikes on March 15.
The Houthi group, which controls much of northern Yemen, has claimed multiple strikes on U.S. warships and targets in Israel in recent days.
The Houthis said their attacks aim to pressure U.S.-backed Israel to stop its offensive in the Gaza Strip and allow humanitarian aid into the Palestinian enclave.
Over the past two weeks, U.S. forces have carried out a wave of strikes on Houthi targets across several Yemeni provinces.
