Jordan condemns Israeli strike on Gaza's hospital

Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday condemned Israel's bombing of the Al-Ahli Arab Baptist Hospital in Gaza City, calling it a "blatant violation" of international and humanitarian law after the facility was rendered completely out of service.

In a statement, the ministry said the strike constituted a "clear breach" of the 1949 Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War.

Foreign ministry spokesperson Sufian Qudah said the kingdom "absolutely rejects and condemns" Israel's continued "military aggression" on Gaza, including the systematic targeting of civilians and destruction of infrastructure providing essential services.

Qudah also accused Israel of using hunger and blockades as tools to forcibly displace Palestinians, warning that such actions threaten regional security and stability.

He urged the international community to "assume its legal and moral responsibilities" by pressuring Israel to halt its military operations in Gaza, open crossings for humanitarian aid, and respect the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent state along 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Qudah further called for accountability for those responsible for what he described as crimes against Palestinians.
