he activity of COVID-19 in Hong Kong has reached a one-year high. The Centre for Health Protection calls on all sectors of society to be more vigilant, strengthen personal hygiene and protective measures, including receiving the initial dose of COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible. High-risk citizens, especially the elderly and patients with chronic diseases, should receive free COVID-19 vaccine boosters at an appropriate time to reduce the risk of severe illness and death.
The Centre for Health Protection expects that the activity of the new coronavirus will remain at a high level for at least the next few weeks. In addition to vaccination, the public is also reminded to maintain strict personal, environmental and hand hygiene at all times. High-risk individuals should wear surgical masks when visiting public places. Citizens should also wear masks when taking public transportation or staying in crowded places.
