4 terrorists killed in police operation in Pakistan's Balochistan

Four terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, officials have said.



The operation was conducted by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Rarasham area of Musakhel district following reports of terrorist presence, a local police official told Xinhua.



"A fierce exchange of fire took place during the operation, resulting in the deaths of four terrorists," the official said, adding that the suspects were intercepted while attempting to plant explosives along a key highway in the area.



The terrorists were affiliated with a proscribed organization and were involved in multiple deadly attacks on passenger buses in Rarasham and nearby areas, he said.



Security forces recovered a cache of weapons, explosives, and other materials from the scene.



He said security had been tightened in the area and that investigations were ongoing.
