The CFS urges the public not to consume a batch of prepackaged cumin powder from Georgia. As the CFS received a notification from the European Commission's Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed that the product was found to contain the pesticide ethylene oxide, it is being recalled.
Upon learning of the incident, the CFS immediately contacted the local importer for follow-up. Preliminary investigation found that the importer had imported the affected batch of products and had stopped selling and removed the affected products from the shelves as instructed by the CFS, and initiated a recall.
The CFS will inform the trade to continue to follow up on the incident and take appropriate action; the investigation is still ongoing.
The problematic prepackaged cumin powder from Georgia, brand "MIMINO" KȔMMEL GEMAHLEN, net weight 50 grams, the best before date of this batch is December 1, 2025. The importer is Greek Delicatessen Limited.
