Signal No. 10 was in effect for nearly seven hours

Hurricane Signal No. 10 was in effect for nearly seven hours yesterday, causing extensive damage to Hong Kong.



During the storm, a total of 33 people were injured, including 18 men and 15 women, and were treated in the emergency rooms of public hospitals. The Home Affairs Department opened 34 temporary shelters in various districts, with a total of 277 people staying. The authorities received a total of 711 reports of fallen trees, confirmed 7 cases of flooding, and no landslide reports were received for the time being. In addition, 5 scaffolding collapse incidents occurred, and a total of 21 building-related accidents were received, mainly loose windows;



There were nearly 600 road accidents. As of 9 pm last night, a total of 8 affected sections were still temporarily closed. The department's emergency teams are stepping up to complete the remaining cleanup work, with the goal of fully resuming normal traffic on all affected sections before the peak period this morning.



The airport only resumed flight takeoffs and landings near yesterday evening. The Airport Express resumed service at 6pm yesterday evening. The Airport Authority said that the airport implemented flight rescheduling. From 8pm last night to 6am this morning, there were 120 flights arriving in Hong Kong and 114 flights departing from Hong Kong, involving a total of about 35,000 passengers. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Link Road has been reopened to all vehicles since midnight, and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge shuttle bus Golden Bus has resumed operation simultaneously.



After the Observatory changed the signal to the No. 3 Strong Wind Signal at 7:40pm last night, the land and sea transportation services affected by the storm earlier have gradually returned to normal. All services of Kowloon Motor Bus, Long Win Bus, Citybus, New Lantao Bus, trams, and MTR, including the Light Rail, have returned to normal. The services of many ferry routes have also been restored one after another. Some ferries or ferries will not resume normal service until today.
