Gaza health authorities report 9 more deaths from malnutrition

26/7/2025 7:18
Gaza-based health authorities on Friday reported nine additional deaths from hunger and malnutrition in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of related fatalities to 122 since the start of the ongoing conflict in October 2023.

In a press statement, the health authorities said that children remain the most affected, with at least 83 minors confirmed dead due to starvation and malnutrition-related complications.

The health authorities warned that the humanitarian and health situation in the enclave -- home to over 2 million people -- would continue to deteriorate amid severe shortages of food and medical supplies due to a prolonged blockade.

The Hamas-run Gaza media office on Friday issued a statement calling for urgent international intervention to halt the starvation.

It demanded the immediate opening of all border crossings, the entry of baby formula, and the daily delivery of 500 humanitarian aid trucks and 50 fuel trucks to address the worsening humanitarian crisis.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East said on social media on Thursday that "one in five children in Gaza City is malnourished. Most are weak, emaciated, at risk of dying."
