Kuwait to deliver aid to Gaza via air bridge

Kuwait announced Monday the launch of an air bridge to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, following a three-day donation campaign organized by the government last week.
Assistant Foreign Minister for Development and International Cooperation Hamad Al-Meshaan said the funds raised would be used to purchase relief supplies from the local market, including oil, flour and other necessities.
He added that the supplies would be transported to the Egyptian city of El-Arish via military aviation and handed over to the Egyptian Red Crescent in coordination with its Kuwaiti counterpart.
He also noted the possibility of transferring part of the aid to Jordan, where the Jordanian army would air-drop it into Gaza.
The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry renewed its condemnation of the blockade imposed by Israel on the Gaza Strip in a statement last week, as hunger and malnutrition continue to worsen in the besieged enclave.
