A spokesperson for the Commissioner's Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region expressed strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition on Friday evening (the 1st) to the claims by the foreign ministers of Canada and New Zealand, as well as the spokesperson for the European External Action Service, that the Hong Kong SAR police are lawfully apprehending anti-China and Hong Kong-disrupting elements. This blatant slander of Hong Kong's rule of law and human rights situation, and the wanton smear campaign against the Hong Kong National Security Law, blatantly vilified the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) police.
The spokesperson emphasized that the illegal election campaign for the so-called "Hong Kong Parliament" initiated by Yuan Gongyi and others seriously violated the Hong Kong National Security Law and was a farce aimed at subverting national power. These anti-China and Hong Kong-disrupting elements are not so-called "democrats," but rather criminals.
The spokesperson also stated that, as a law enforcement agency, the SAR police have the responsibility to investigate and prosecute those suspected of endangering national security abroad. The SAR police's legitimate enforcement of law against overseas anti-China and Hong Kong-disrupting elements in accordance with relevant provisions is lawful, reasonable, and unacceptable.
