Vietnam on Wednesday held a ceremony in the capital Hanoi to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the government's establishment, reaffirming the country's achievements and future goals, Vietnam News Agency reported.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh recalled that the Provisional Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam was formed on Aug. 28, 1945, under former President Ho Chi Minh's leadership, laying the foundation for an independent and sovereign nation.
Reviewing eight decades of development, Chinh highlighted progress in economic growth, international integration, poverty reduction, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and national defense, the report said.
Looking ahead, the prime minister vowed to push forward economic restructuring, industrialization, and a new growth model, alongside commitments to democracy, social welfare, anti-corruption efforts, and global cooperation, the state-owned media reported.
