Customs seized approximately 3,100 suspected counterfeit mobile phones with a market value of approximately HK$4.6 million at the Hong Kong Port of the HZMB and arrested one driver.
Based on a risk assessment, Customs officers intercepted an incoming truck at the HZMB Hong Kong Port last Tuesday. After inspection, officers seized the suspected counterfeit mobile phones in the truck bed and arrested the 56-year-old male driver, who is currently on bail pending further investigation.
Customs stated that preliminary investigations indicate that the suspected counterfeit mobile phones were intended for re-export overseas and are continuing their investigation into the case.
