A foreign national couple was arrested on suspicion of producing and using counterfeit banknotes. During the operation, police seized 66 counterfeit $100 notes, along with tools and materials. The two individuals are currently being detained.
Yesterday, police arrested two foreign nationals, aged 54 and 50, at a hotel unit on Hennessy Road in Wan Chai. They were suspected of using a computer, inkjet printer, and metallic pigment to produce counterfeit Hong Kong dollar notes on paper that resembled the texture of Hong Kong dollar banknotes.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the two individuals are linked to several counterfeit banknote cases in August, most of which involved paying for taxi fares with counterfeit $100 or $500 notes.
