Seizure of Illegal Cigarettes and Cigarette Cartridges Worth $100,000

Traffic Kowloon East Regional Task Force conducted a traffic enforcement operation last night (5th). While patrolling Sau Ming Road, they observed a private car parked within the zebra crossing controlled area. The driver appeared to be behaving suspiciously and approached for questioning. Officers seized approximately 18,400 cigarettes and five suspected nicotine-containing cartridges inside the vehicle, with a total market value of approximately $100,000.



Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver, a 32-year-old local male surnamed Xian, was arrested on suspicion of possession of unduty-paid cigarettes and possession of Part 1 poisons. He is currently being detained for investigation. The case has been assigned to Team 4 of the Report Room at Sau Mau Ping Divisional Police Station.
