The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), an oil giant of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on Sunday announced an agreement with Microsoft to co-develop and deploy AI agents across ADNOC's operations.

The agreement also includes two other energy companies, Masdar and XRG, with the aim of developing sustainable energy projects and infrastructure to support Microsoft's global AI and data-center expansion, according to a statement released by ADNOC.

Under the agreement, Microsoft will provide ADNOC with advanced AI tools and workforce training programs, and the two companies will explore establishing a joint innovation ecosystem to develop transformative solutions for the global energy sector.

ADNOC became the first energy company to deploy generative AI enterprise-wide in November 2023 through a Microsoft AI product. To date, more than 40,000 employees have completed AI training, achieving a utilization rate above 90 percent and adding over 70,000 hours of monthly productivity, said the statement.
