18/8/2025 13:23
A teenage boy has died following a three-vehicle collision involving a horse truck and a semi-trailer northwest of Sydney on Sunday.

A police statement on Monday said that the 14-year-old boy was one of two people traveling in the horse truck when it collided with the semi-trailer and a tractor near the small town of Wee Waa, over 400 km northwest of Sydney, around 3 p.m. on Sunday.

A member of the public administered first aid to the teenager until the arrival of ambulance paramedics, but he died at the scene.

It takes the number of road deaths in the state of New South Wales (NSW) in 2025 to 228, compared to 194 at the same time in 2024.

The 38-year-old male driver of the horse truck was taken to the hospital in a stable condition and to undergo mandatory testing.

A 66-year-old man who was driving the tractor and a 33-year-old man who was driving the semi-trailer were not injured, but were also taken to the hospital for testing.

NSW Police established a crime scene, which will be forensically examined by officers from the specialist crash unit.
