1 killed, 3 injured in Israeli airstrike on Lebanon

An Israeli drone strike targeted on Thursday afternoon a vehicle on the Khaldeh highway, south of the Lebanese capital Beirut, killing one person and injuring three others, the National News Agency reported.

The airstrike, which occurred just a few kilometers from Beirut's airport, caused heavy traffic on the highway and damaged several parked vehicles, the agency reported.

Ambulances were dispatched to the scene to transport the casualties to nearby hospitals, it added.

Meanwhile, according to a statement from the Israeli military, it killed a militant affiliated with Iran's Quds Force in a strike in Lebanon.

The militant, whose identity was not disclosed, was responsible for "smuggling weapons and advancing terror attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF (Israel Defense Forces) troops, on behalf of the Iranian Quds Force, in the area of Sil in Lebanon," the statement said. Sil is located in the Mount Lebanon Governorate, near Khaldeh.

It was the latest Israeli strike in Lebanon despite a ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024 that ended 14 months of cross-border fighting.
