Five suspects killed during shootout with South African police

        Five suspects were shot dead in a shootout with South Africa police in Durban of KwaZulu-Natal province, said local police Wednesday.
        The KwaZulu-Natal police said the suspects wanted for a string of murders and business robbery cases were cornered at a rented flat in Cato Crest in Durban Tuesday night. When police announced their presence, the suspects opened fire towards the law enforcement officers.
        "A shootout ensued and after the ceasefire, five suspects were found to have sustained fatal gunshot wounds," the provincial police said in a statement. "An AK47 assault rifle, three handguns and drugs were found in the possession of the suspects."
        "The suspects had been positively linked with four counts of murder, 13 cases of business robbery and another case of carjacking which were committed in the Cato Manor and Durban Central policing precincts," said the police.
        No police officer was injured during the shootout.
