A senior was hit by a taxi and was taken to the hospital unconscious

        A traffic accident occurred in Yau Ma Tei last night when a 71-year-old man was knocked down by a taxi and sent to the hospital unconscious. The 69-year-old male taxi driver was arrested for dangerous driving.
        
        At around 11 o'clock last night, a taxi was traveling along Nathan Road towards Jordan. When it reached the light station of Gascoigne Road, it hit an old man passing by. The victim suffered a head injury and fell to the ground unconscious. A pool of blood, a sandal and some medicine is visible at the scene of the accident. The man was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.
        
        The left headlight, side mirror and windshield of the taxi were damaged and shattered.
        
        After preliminary investigation, the police arrested a 69-year-old male taxi driver on suspicion of dangerous driving causing serious bodily injury to others. He was not injured and is being detained for investigation. The police are investigating the cause of the accident and are checking the taxi's dash cam footages to understand the circumstances at the time of the incident, including whether the pedestrian crossing light was red at the time.
        
        Affected by the accident, traffic was heavy on Nathan Road heading towards Jordan at the time.
