Tropical Depression Hibari is about 240 kilometers southwest of Okinawa

        The Observatory said that showers and thunderstorms associated with a broad low-pressure trough are affecting the coast of Guangdong and the northern South China Sea. At 5 a.m., Tropical Depression Hibari gathered about 240 kilometers southwest of Okinawa and was expected to move northward at a speed of about 18 kilometers per hour, generally toward the East China Sea. The Observatory predicts that it will be mostly cloudy in Hong Kong today, with occasional showers and a few squally thunderstorms. The rain will sometimes be quite heavy in the morning. The maximum temperature during the day will be about 30 degrees, with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds. Looking ahead to the next one or two days, the weather will remain unstable, with sometimes heavy rains and squally thunderstorms. Later in the week, the showers will gradually decrease and the weather will improve.
